ABOUT OM YOGA SCHOOL
OM YOGA SCHOOL brings together the long-standing tradition of OM Yoga Adelaide with the coastal space of Yoga Mandala, now united under one name.
This evolution reflects a natural coming together of two communities, grounded in the same intention: to offer yoga as a practice of awareness, stability, and self-understanding.
Our teaching is rooted in the classical lineage of T. Krishnamacharya and B. K. S. Iyengar and continues through the work of Geeta Iyengar, Prashant Iyengar and Abhijata Iyengar. This method emphasises precision, sequencing and the intelligent use of props to support each individual body.
We offer two distinct practice spaces:
Our CITY STUDIO is a light-filled boutique studio in the heart of the CBD, offering an intimate and refined yoga experience. With small classes and all props provided, each session is guided with care and precision.
Here, the teacher is teaching you— not instructing you —holding the space with attention and depth so your practice can truly unfold.
Our WEST BEACH STUDIO (Yoga Mandala) offers a more open, coastal environment, where practice is grounded, spacious, and connected to the natural surroundings.
Across both locations, our approach remains consistent. Yoga is not about achieving a shape, but about learning to observe—body, breath, and mind. Each class is taught with care and attention, adapting the practice to suit the individual rather than asking the individual to fit the pose.
OM YOGA SCHOOL is a place for ongoing study, thoughtful practice, and connection—supporting students at every stage of their yoga journey.
SAMANTHA BAKER
OM Yoga was founded by Wendy Samek, whose decades of study, including time in Pune at the Ramamani Iyengar Memorial Yoga Institute shaped the strong foundation of the school. Her dedication has influenced generations of students and teachers, and her legacy continues to be felt in the practice we offer today.
As the current custodian of OM Yoga School, I continue this work with a deep respect for the Iyengar tradition, while guiding the school forward in a way that is accessible, steady, and relevant to modern life.
I am a certified Level 2 Iyengar Yoga teacher, and began my journey with yoga over 25 years ago. I continue my studies with Darrin McNally of the Kensington School of Yoga and travel to Pune, India to further my studies at the Ramamani Iyengar Memorial Yoga Institute. This guidance has been an important part of my development as both a practitioner and teacher.
Yoga has been a way of life for me—supporting a process of self-inquiry and carrying me through some very challenging times. It is a practice I return to again and again, not just on the mat, but in how I live.
My passion is to share this knowledge in a way that is clear, supportive, and accessible, helping others to build a practice that can sustain them over time.
